Baked in New Traditions: Infused Garlic Mashed Potatoes for Peak Comfort Season

This week, we’re turning up the comfort level, and the flavor, with a timeless classic: Garlic Mashed Potatoes, infused with a little canna love.

Creamy, garlicky, and rich enough to steal the show from any main dish, these potatoes take your Baked in New Traditions series straight to the dinner table. Whether you’re hosting friends, cooking for family, or just treating yourself, this is your ultimate side-dish upgrade.

Infused Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Serves: 6–8

 

Ingredients

  • 6 large russet potatoes – washed, peeled, and cubed
  • 4 garlic heads
  • 6 oz ricotta cheese
  • 6 tbsp CannaButter
  • 4 tbsp sweet butter
  • 4 oz (¼ pint) heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp basil

 

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 420°F (215°C).
  2. Prepare the garlic: Cut the top ½ inch off each unpeeled garlic head.
  3. In a baking dish, drizzle olive oil over the garlic heads and sprinkle with basil.
  4. Roast for 30–45 minutes, or until the cloves are fork-tender and fragrant. (Don’t worry if the outer peel chars — that’s normal!)
  5. While garlic roasts, boil potatoes in a large pot of salted water for 6–10 minutes, until fork-tender. Drain well.
  6. Lightly mash the potatoes before adding CannaButter and sweet butter. Continue mashing until smooth and combined.
  7. Add ricotta, salt, pepper, and heavy cream, mashing or whipping until the texture is luxuriously smooth.
  8. When the garlic is done, squeeze the roasted cloves out of the peel onto a cutting board.
  9. Crush the garlic with the side of a knife to form a paste, then fold it into the mashed potatoes.
  10. Give it one last whip for extra creaminess — and try not to eat half the bowl before serving.

 

Serving Suggestions

  • Pair with roasted veggies or grilled steak for a hearty infused dinner.
  • Top with a pat of canna butter for an extra layer of flavor (and potency).
  • Make it holiday-ready with a sprinkle of fresh herbs or crispy shallots.

Dosing Reminder

Always know your butter before you bake (or mash). Potency varies depending on how your canna butter was made, so start small — about ½ cup of infused mash per serving — and wait at least 1–2 hours before going back for seconds.
