New Phenotype Names

This post provides a basic understanding of cannabis flower phenotypes and offers some information on the phenotypes cultivated by GrowHealthy. If you’re already a phenotype expert, you may want to skip this one.

What Is A Phenotype?

First, let’s define the word phenotype. A phenotype, in all things, not just cannabis, is “the set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.”1

Cannabis flower phenotypes share the same genetic cross but have varying characteristics resulting from different environmental factors during cultivation, such as light.

Phenotypes Testing & Renaming

Over the past year, we have released many phenotypes in an effort to find the best strains to add to our garden full time. Patient feedback was invaluable in helping us decide which strains to keep! The phenotypes that are staying will be re-released with their new, permanent names. Unique names ensure that patients can easily find the medication that best fits their needs.

GrowHealthy Phenotypes

Lemon Freeze Pop is an example of a phenotype. This strain crosses Lemon Tree and Creamsicle #4 to create a relaxing Indica. GrowHealthy also offers another Lemon Tree and Creamsicle #4 phenotype, Lemon Duchess. Both strains share the same parent cross but have unique terpene profiles, tastes, aromas, and effects.

It is even possible for phenotypes of the same cross to vary by type. For example, Lemon Tree and Creamsicle #4 cross to create Lemon Freeze Pop a relaxing Indica. However, the same cross grown under different conditions creates Lemon Duchess, an energizing Hybrid.

We hope that this renaming process will better enable our patients to find the strain that is best for them!

Grow healthy, your customer appreciation sale does me no good. I always get RSO. Sativa for days and indica for nighttime. You have been out of one or the other for weeks. Now you have neither. Please do better.
